Who's going naked?

The last phone I used completely naked (no screen or body protection) was the Nexus 5. It definitely had some wear and tear after a year or so but it was still very usable.

Thanks to Nexus Protect, I feel even more comfortable going completely naked this year. The feel of the phone is a big reason I got it so I'll not be using a case or a screen protector. If anything bad happens, I can use my insurance, pay $79 and get a new one. I'm just going to enjoy this in all it's glory and not worry about what might happen.

Anyone with me?

If this was the 6P I'd feel different, but this type of phone generally holds up well over time. Not to mention I got the Carbon Black version and that should hide any imperfections better.

I used my original Nexus 5 without a case for almost a year (maybe over a year?) but then I dropped it one day and since then I've had a case on it. Even though I'm not getting a 2015 model if I did, I'd probably put a case on it. I'm going to be buying a new phone in November or December and at first I will be using it naked. :)

No case . . . at least to start. I really like Lifeproof . . . but they don't support much besides iPhone. I expect it'll be a while before I find another product I like as much.

Yeah, I got the Carbon too so it will hide some minimal damage nicely. Did you get Nexus Protect? It's my first time getting insurance of any kind for a phone.

I'm not looking to increase the footprint of the 5X so I'll be going without a case as well. For the size of its screen, I think it's big enough.

I didn't, although it's a tempting option. I've always been really good about keeping my phones in pristine condition for resale.

I may go nekked at first, but will likely end up getting a very thin Spigen case. Just gives me a little peace of mind with minimal added bulk.

Skin if i get one. Dbrand has been a solid product for me on other phones. Keeps the size and doesn't allow scratches. Dbrand has a sign up to alert you when they arrive. Ive also used slickwraps

I have to have a case on mine because of my job. If I didn't, it wouldn't even last a week. I also have to use a screen protector. I generally use the Supcase hybrid cases as they are very durable and add minimal bulk and provide the protection that I need. When I do take the case off my phone always feels very fragile. So I generally leave the case on. A side benefit of that is that even my 2 year old original Moto X still looks brand new when I take the case off.

I tried a case on my Galaxy Fascinate and hated it. I upgraded to a Galaxy Nexus and it was too big for a case. I have the sexy bamboo back on my Moto X and couldn't bear to cover it up. After almost two years the bamboo has lots of wear marks and that's fine. It's like old pine furniture. I don't intend to cover up my cool, new, blue 5X with an ugly case.

I wear a case like a suit of armor or wet suit... in other words I put it on when I think I need it... like going out to breweries and getting drunk or something where I tend to let my defenses down. If I am just going out to dinner or something, I go naked.

I wear a case on my Nexus 5 only when I'm going out, but NO screen protector anytime. As I hate screen protector, it gives weird effects to my screen. 2 years later the phone is still smoooth as silk.

My ancient Samsung Galaxy S2 did not wear a screen protector either, but more than 4 years later, the screen is still smooooth to the touch.

So, case is a must and screen protector is a BIG NO NO.

Although I have already added a bunch of cases to my amazon list I'm going to try going naked for a bit. I was hesitate because I broke my 2014 Moto X after just a two days because of how slippery it was, glad I got accidental. I'm hoping the back has just a bit more grip on the 5x.

I'm going to go with a tempered glass protector and a dbrand skin on the back when they come out :) will eventually buy a case for those instances when you just need one...

Anyone have any recommendations on tempered glass screen protectors?? Any notable brands?? My first time buying one..

Basically this. Going naked is the best way to go with a phone! Cases hide their true beauty.

Some people, like me, have to use a case and a screen protector because of our jobs and the things that we do on weekends and in the evenings. If I didn't have both on my phone it wouldn't last two weeks.
