Hi @mustang7757 et al ! here we are again!

i'll pre-order the S25 Ultra as soon as pre-orders are available. rumor has it that it will NOT be immediately after the Jan 22nd Unpacked video event this time! we'd have to wait a few days, so they are now saying.

frankly, i think the Pixel phones' largest and newest model is the better phone to get, BUT, there's no clear way for me to EASILY transfer all my data/info/SMS from my Samsung to a Pixel phone, unlike from a Samsung to another Samsung, they have SmartSwitch. so that's what's holding me back.

i think the Pixel phones are just as good for less money, plus the Pixel phones get Android updates faster.

again, without a super easy way to transfer my data from my Samsung over to a new Pixel, i am uncertain i want to risk it and lose things or have to spend hours figuring out how to do the transfer properly.

anyone thinking along the same line as my thinking please?

so...as of now, i'm ultimately going to get the S25 Ultra, sigh, all because i don't really know how to transfer data from my Samsung to a new Pixel phone for certain. i wish there were some easy way that is secure and simple!

I'm on the fence about it , I hear seamless updates which probably get rid of Odin I'm not in favor and for Samsung to Pixel transfer probably cable between devices using smart switch.

@mustang7757 : from Samsung to Pixel you can use SmartSwitch???

oh wow, i keep thinking SmartSwitch is STRICTLY for Samsung to Samsung only! i thought they wrote that program for their own benefit, and NOT for the benefit of folks buying Pixels phones and make it easier for people to transfer data FROM their Samsung phones to Pixel phones!!

If its near free or free with trade-in, why not.....maybe can even score some free accessories, I need new headphones. If reviews are sht, I'll just get Pixel 9 Pro for free.
in my many years of trading in my 1-year old Samsungs to the next models, i've NEVER ever had a "near free or free with trade in" - ever!

it's always something like $300 to $600!! that's not free by any means!

Yes even an iPhone u can transfer
Just go on the Samsung device in settings>account and back up>transfer data for device set-up

Every year I say no but then find some excuse to do it. That's how I've ended up with every S series device since the S10+. The reviews start on YouTube, I get sucked in and then end up as a real life futurama meme.

@mustang7757 : if i were to transfer from my S24 Ultra to the new S25 Ultra, would it be better for me to wireless/bluetooth or wired/cable on SmartSwitch please?

for a number of years, i was blindly choosing cable/wired as i just thought it would be more stable, fewer problems. then, i read the tiny leaflet included in the new Samsung phones (quick start guide type of leaflet) and they ALL say "wireless bluetooth preferred when using SmartSwitch".

i've never understood WHY Samnsung PREFERS all of us using wireless/bluetooth to transfer massive amounts of data?

may i please ask if anyone knows the reasoning behind this? thank you!

Gemini confirmed what I was thinking the answer would be. It's just for convenience. You're not tethered to the other device, allowing you to move around normally, if need be you can charge either or both devices while transferring data. They are prioritizing user experience over the slightly faster tethered transfer.

Yeah it's always about 300 minus sign up bonus, minus rakuten cashback, and minus edu account discount that I have, when you trade with Samsung. And it's free when you tradein with Tmobile. I don't think I ever paid more than 200 bucks or so. Sometimes there is even a promo code for further discount taking a price down to like $100-150 bucks

Me too. But not until the spring.

Sent from my SM-S906U using AC Forums mobile app
Good that you have the discipline to wait! I just can't! Yikes. I want mine like now - today. Haha.

I always feel that each new phone doesn't have all the bad stuff that slows down the phone or make the phone more vulnerable to hacking. So getting one new phone per year enables my phone to have new circuits/hardware, firmware, so to make it more troublesome for the hackers to try to break in.

It's funny that it's typically the same folks who log in annually to wait for the news, then the UPS tracking, waiting for the delivery guy, etc. Haha.

i wonder why Samsung won't have pre-orders open immediately on their own site right after their Unpacked live event? they've had pre-orders immediately every year! it's not as though it changes their actual shipping date or anything like that! merely a pre-order! i don't like this "wait 2-4 days before pre-orders are even accepted!

strange.

you are losing a lot of money, if you try to sell it after one year, you will lose around 40% of its price
