Why add headphones to the watch? What Am I Missing?

I simply don't understand the point of it?

Your phone is in your pocket or more than likely close to you and the connected watch, so why would you need headphones to be connected to the watch when it is already connected to the phone?

I must be missing something here??

You could go for a ride or run without your phone adding weight and still listen to music/podcasts.

If you had the LTE version where you could leave your phone and go about your day not missing notifications or calls, you would find out real fast that having a BT headset would come in handy for that call where you didn't want to impersonate D*ck Tracy or let everyone within 10ft hear your conversation.

Most of the activities I track (workouts, walking/hiking, running) I use headphones and play music from the watch (as to not disturb others.) The phone is left behind because it is unnecessary in my case.
