Why am I being inundated with undownloaded messages?

Ever since I got the LG-G6 my messaging app has been flooded with messages that Haven't been downloaded. It'll say something along the lines of "Message size: 0kb
New MMS, recieve?" Then below that it has a button that reads "Download". I get about 5-10 of these messages every half an hour or so and they drive me crazy! As far as I can tell they aren't messages being sent by the people in my contacts because they only appear on my phone, I even receive these texts from people who I only text in group chats, their phones don't even show them sending messages to me. I've tried litterally every setting protianing to messages I could find on this, can someone please help?

Welcome to Android Central! Is your mobile data on? MMS requires mobile data to be on, and if it isn't, you'll get that kind of message. MMS is not just for picture texts -- it's also for group texts.
