Why am I getting AccuWeather updates from Huafeng AccuWeather

[Android Central Question]

I have an unlocked Note 8 and within the past few weeks I have started getting weather updates from Huafeng AccuWeather. If i try to get to where I can delete it or change it, a notice comes up saying it isn't available. I know Huafeng is connected with AccuWeather but I don't know if any app I have downloaded that would have that enbeded. Any ideas?

I think it's definitely Huafeng Weather.

When you get the notification again, long press it and see what comes up.

It will tell you which app is sending said notification

I checked all the items in Special Access and the Huafeng didn't show up. When I long press the notification the app Vault shows up, and there are two possibilities to choose--Silent Notifications or Don't silence or block.. I believe it's NQ Vault. I will uninstalling the app and reinstalling would take care of the situation. I appreciate the help.

there are built in android and Google features that may do what you want without giving a 3rd party access to everything and the ability to lock up your phone, compromise the data, or who knows what else.

The weather notifications are coming from a weather app attached to Vault. Had never been there before.

You updated "Vault App"
Open your Vault App, go to settings. At the bottom disable weather notifications and weather update.
You don't have to delete the Vault App.
In case it's not the Vault App, long press on the notification bar and click the "App info" this will take you to the App responsible for the notification. Then open the App and disable weather notifications.

It was the Vault app. I saw the weather notification checked and unchecked it. All is good. Thanks for the help.

I also had started seeing the Accuweather notifications on my phone in the last couple days. Thanks to the information in this thread, i found that it was running through NQ Call Blocker. In the app's setting, i could turn off the weather notification. The call blocker app had just updated and I think it defaulted the Accuweather notification on.Thanks, guys!

I noticed this on my phone also. When I held down the notification, it said it came from Call Blocker / BlackList. I uninstalled that and the notification went away, but now have re-installed (and lost all of my numbers to block) and it the weather notification is now back. I went into Settings in Call Blocker, and saw there is a Weather notification set to on. Turned that off and now it is gone again. Why would a Call Blocker app have weather? Whatever. It worked so far.

I had the same weather notification and when I removed Wifi doctor it went away.

Long press of the notif. and look at details told me which app was doing all the same things described here. I cleared data and uninstalled Wifi Doctor. It must have installed along with another app and I didn't read fine print. Thanks for the helpful thread!

Thanks so much! I've been trying off and on for days to delete the same thing. With the info from this thread I was able to figure out that the widget was from a phone app that I'd installed, so there was no weather app or widget listed on my phone. When I turned off notifications from the phone app, the dang weather icon in the status bar disappeared. Yay!
