MOTO E Root help needed!

Hi guys, im new to this forum and i had a question regarding rooting my tracfone moto e. I followed the steps exactly as i was suppose to in order to unlock it but when i go to the motorola unlock page and i enter the device id it just tells me "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking". I know that the moto e is unlock-able:-, ive seen several do it, but im assuming tracfone has had motorola lock the phone so it can not be unlocked.
Anyway is there another way to unlock the bootloader on my moto e or is there a way i can root my phone without unlocking bootloader. I dont care about running custom roms(though it would be cool) i just want to at this point be able to install everything(app + data) on my micro sd card and i also want to install several other root needed apps.
Please help me out
Thanks in advance for any responses to post, im getting a bit desperate.:-$

Re: MOTO E Root help needed!

Welcome to the forums. Many root methods do depend on an unlockable bootloader. That being said, the ability to move apps and data to the SD card will depend greatly on the developer if the data can be moved, and even then, how much. Also, the app data can only be moved, not the app itself.

Re: MOTO E Root help needed!

Thank you for your reply! i am aware that many roots require a unlocked bootloader but like i said i can't seem to get my bootloader unlocked. I even contacted motorola for support on the topic( since they have a step by step tutorial on how to unlock the phone) but they just said sorry we do not support this. Also as far as installing apps completely to sd card with data i believe it can be done with folder mount(correct me if im wrong). I have found some other posts regarding tethered versions of root but can't see to find anything for the moto e and to be honest with u i dont even know if tethered would require unlocking the bootloader( but im assuming not).
thanks again for your reply

Re: MOTO E Root help needed!

also could i take an existing root tutorial and just skip the unlocking part to try it? would this mess up my phone as far as where i couldn't use it again?

Re: MOTO E Root help needed!

I wouldn't try it.

From an AOSP M8

Re: MOTO E Root help needed!

too late already tried it... it didnt work
from what im finding online it looks like the moto e is only unlockable at the moment if you have the sim card version and cdma version don't have solution yet. i have a tracfrone version with no sim card so it must be cdma. :(:( sure hope they come up with a solution soon

I have a GSM version of Moto e from Walmart and Motorola won't unlock it because they only unlock retail versions of the bootloader. I would really like to get this bootloader cracked open even if it's just out of spite. Really I want to manage all of my system notification settings. Flashing a custom ROM on such a cheap phone would probably release the other GIG of internal storage that's being wasted by the system partition for NO REASON... They took out all the "bloatware" and then left the empty space on an unwritable partition. Leave it to AT&T, AKA the "Death Star" to do something so stupid to their customers. I think I can feel Darth Vader's invisible death choke around my neck as we speak... bleh. I hope someone fixes this. NEVER BUYING AT&T AGAIN!
