WHY am I getting constant screen redraws?!

Here we go. After a reboot, my nexus 10 performs perfectly with no slowness and no screen redraws for several hours. However, after a while, when returning to homescreen, it starts to take longer. After a while longer, returning to homescreen will take several seconds and then the entire launcher and icons will have to reload. It has nothing to do with ram as i am always using about the same amount, even when redraws never occur. I have tried every setting available. I have gone into root explorer and added the HOME APP thing that is meant to make the homescreen be the last task to be killed. All to no avail. I always end up having to restart my tablet to get it to work quickly again. Actually , after the homescreen starts redrawing, everything gets slower and the tablet will eventually freeze . I have no viruses. I have no huge amount of ram running. This never happened in 4.2, but it has in 4.2.1 and 4.2.2. Im at my wits end. Please help. This is driving me crazy. Also, this happens with any launcher including stock.

I think I should say this as well. I constantly hover around the 1gb usage of data even though the combined amount of ram used as seen in "Running apps" is rarely over 200mb. Can anyone tell me how to view all the ram-eating activities, cause I dont think that my tablet should be using 1 gb of data when so few apps are even being used....

One last thing. I will still always have atleast 300mb of free ram, so this redrawing should not be happening. Please help, Im going batty with this problem.

Hmmm, do you often clear out the Recent Apps?
If so, try not to. That's what happens to me but usually only when I keep clearing the Recent Apps so to avoid it I just keep that list going & only clear it out when I go to bed.

I dont normally. I rarely even use that button. I do however usually use the hard back button on most apps which closes them. And you say you experience the same problems I do?

...
And you say you experience the same problems I do?

Yup but only if I swipe away the Recent Apps which doesn't seem to be your cause so I'm not sure what else to suggest.
Perhaps try using the "Home" button instead of "Back" for the whole day tomorrow & see if it redraws. Also don't forget to not swipe away Recent Apps.

Google almost undoubtedly won't tell you anything a Google search won't, unfortunately.

Are you rooted?
I ask because you said you installed a root App. If so, have you tried going back to stock/unrooted?

Is there any way to monitor ram usage other than settings? I mean im using about 900mb of ram right now but i have few apps open and i see no reason why I'm using this much ram. That could be the problem. The apps in question and tjhe background processes dont nearly add up to. 9gb

I don't have this problem but I seem to recall someone else with a similar problem was using some app from the play store to monitor ram. I am sorry I didnt pay attention to the name of the app. IF Google would let me add apps to my wish list FROM a browser window I would have save the app for future refrence.

You mean the app was causing the problem or he was using it to monitor ram to help? Either way, I'm confused because currently I have over 1gb of ram in use and the combined app usage and cached processes are under 300mb.i think if I can figure out what's using so much ram I might be able to stop the redrawing. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help all. However, after trying just about anything including factory reset, I called Google and got a replqcement.I love this tablet but this problem causes so much stress. Google was surprisingly easy to get a replacement from considering I've had this for 4 months. ?have you tried factory reset?? ?yea? ?would you like a replacement?? ?yea?
