Why am I getting double notifications from Gmail and Inbox (Samsung Galaxy S7)?

I have recently upgraded from the Galaxy S5 to the S7, and I cannot get my Gmail accounts to function as they did on my old phone. I use the Inbox app for personal email, and the Gmail app for work email. When I get a personal email, I get two notifications, one from each app (I only get one notification from Gmail for work emails, so that is functioning just fine). When I turned off the notifications for my personal account in the Gmail app only, notifications from both apps stopped. Does anyone know how to fix this?

GMail and Inbox are two different apps - they both receive the same email (assuming you have the same accounts in each). If you have notifications enabled in each, they'll each notify you when they receive email (which will be when the email arrives at your phone). Either turn off notifications in one of them or uninstall one of them.

I have an S8 and have exactly the same problem.
I have Outlook Mobile installed and setup to receive notifications. My other email is the pre installed Samsung Email App. That email app is not even configured with my email accounts and to be on the safe side I have also set notifications not to show.
In summary
Outlook mobile configured for notifications

Samsung email app not configured for my account and notifications off

Any ideas?

I have a Samsung Galaxy J7 and I was suddenly getting double gmail notifications for 1 gmail message. I thought that maybe I made a mistake and changed a setting by mistake. Then I started thinking it was a glitch in the software. My boyfriend then did a soft reset on my phone but that still didnt work. After trying to figure it out all day, I finally decided to call T-Mobile, which is who my cell phone service is with. I spoke with the technical support department and she had me to go tap on my Gmail icon, go in to settings, then tap on your gmail address, then go in to inbox notifications (which is under the notifications category). You should then see something called "Label notifications." Make sure this is UNCHECKED and this should solve your problem. It worked for me. Hopefully this information helps some of you out there having the same problem. Now of course these instructions are for my specific type of phone. If you have a different phone, contact your cell phone provider and speak with technical support to find out how to get to those specific settings on your phone.
