Why am I getting dual gmail notifications?

Never had this happen on any phone except the S7, beginning to irritate the crap out of me. Every time I receive an email I get two notifications. Any help would be appreciated.

So I receive an email

I then click on it, while I am reviewing the email I get another notification popup.

You'll get two Gmail notifications if you're using both the GMail and Inbox apps.

I never used the inbox app, account haven't even been registered yet.
