Error messages when switching between portrait and landscape

Hello. I've searched the internet and I cannot find a single other post describing the error messages I'm getting. The error messages read: "Error occurred while loading widget. Remove widget and add again." and "Server did not respond. Try again later."

I get these sequential messages in a popup box along the lower middle of my tablet when I switch from portrait to landscape or vice versa while using various apps (chrome, facebook, email, etc). Other than seeing the popup messages, EVERYTHING appears to be running just fine. I've tried some trouble shooting by removing widgets one at a time, and the error messages still appear. I'm at a loss. BUT, since nothing seems to be out of sorts, I suppose I could learn to ignore the errors and go on with my day.

My tablet is NOT rooted. I installed Nova Launcher and the Axis icon theme pack. If I allow the screen orientation to auto-rotate (as opposed to the default setting of it being locked in portrait for the home screens), I will also see the error messages while on the home screens if I turn the tablet to its side. Has anyone experienced this? I can't be the ONLY person on the planet with this issue! :-)

Are you in the Launcher or is it running? Maybe it has something to do with the error messages. I don't know about Icon theme packs.

Re: Error messages when switching between portrait and landscape

Interesting CBug70 in that just in the last few days my Nexus 7 (2012) has got stuck in landscape mode and I can't seem to get it to auto-rotate like it used to do. In fact I can't even find the setting to see what the my tablet's internal guts THINKS it is operating within (auto-rotate or set to landscape/portrait). Hopefully some of the great wizzards here will reply and provide a hint or two for us.

That said, it reallllly is eyebrow lifting for me that I did have a chance to turn in my 2012/8 GB Nexus 7 before the 2 year add on warranty died but opted to keep mine because it has been working fine, battery great etc. and swapping mine out sounded like too much potential for getting what might end up a bad new one OUT of warranty! So now - not long after warranty date died - my old good tab starts acting nuts. Does make one wonder if besides GPS, a DDD (drop dead date) isn't built into these devices . . .

Oh well, if I can just get my screen back to 'normal' for me I'll be happy enough.
Thanks for any and all feedback.

On the Tab S 10.5, Settings, Display, ScreenRotation (follows your face????) That seems to be the only place to deal with rotation/orientation. I don't see any place to lock rotation (my Blackberry device has such a feature)

Re: Error messages when switching between portrait and landscape

I had the same issues between portrait and landscape modes for a while. Then I switched my default launcher back to the standard one, went to my home page once, then switched back to the launcher i was using and now the error message is gone

CBug70,

I was getting the same message ("Error occurred while loading widget. Remove widget and add again.") on my TabS 8.4. However, I was not receiving the other server related message. I am using ssLauncher and removed each widget in turn and was still seeing the message. I read your post and something sparked an idea ... I believe it was your statement about using Nova Launcher. I had Nova Launcher installed but it was not my default so I uninstalled it; this did not solve the problem. So, I removed all the other launchers I had installed with the exception of ssLauncher (took a long time to set up ssLauncher and I did not want to have to repeat that process unless I absolutely necessary ... a bit like doing a factory reset). It occurred to me that there is a launcher on Samsung Android devices that cannot be removed ... Touchwiz. So, I selected Touchwiz as the home launcher and proceeded to remove all the widgets. The message has stopped being displayed. I did not spend time trying to figure out which widget was the offender because I could not give two hoots about Touchwiz or any of the Samsung bloatware.

I hope this helps.

What I had to do on my Nexus 7 (2013 version) when it got stuck in landscape mode was change the settings regarding landscape and portrait back and forth a few times before it corrected itself. I may have had to turn the screen off, even, after doing that, but I can't remember.

ive had this myself, and fixed it. but after the recent Lollipop update the other week its returned :/
after a headscratching moment wondering what it was i did to fix it and a LOT on internet searching, i both found and realised that it was SAMSUNG's own Watchon app that was causing the errors.
i dont use ( nor intend to use) this app, uninstalled and no more messages of :

Server did not respond. Try again later

on my screen when rotating the tablet from portrait to landscape

It was the Watch on app causing this! Thanks so much for posting. I tried lots of things before finding your post. I have a Samsung Tab 3.
