Why am I getting more pop up ads than ever before?

I searched and found how to get rid of the Google ads. But I must be infested with ad pop up. I have Maleware Bytes on the phone, even the paid version. But every time I scan, it tells me that everything is fine! Can anyone help me?

Welcome to Android Central! Virus and malware scanning apps often don't pick up adware, because they're technically not malware (i.e., they're not doing anything malicious -- just annoying).
