"No Android device found" - Android File Transfer

Hi,

I'm having a problem with my phone - when I connect it to my computer, it isn't recognised, and Android File Transfer gives the message "No Android device found" when I open it. The phone, however, still draws power from the USB cable.

Details:

- Phone: Nexus 4 running Android 5.1.1
- Computer: iMac mid-2010 running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 (probably irrelevant as I've tried and failed with other computers)

I've tried:

- Connecting as MTP
- Connecting as PTP
- Enabling/disabling USB debugging with each 'Connect as' mode
- Uninstalling and reinstalling AFT on my computer
- Restoring the phone to factory settings with and without restoring from a backup
- Using a different USB cable (designed for a different device but still fits the socket)
- Using a different computer - experienced the same problem with another Mac running an older version of OS X, and two computers running Windows 7 & 8, which acknowledged that something had connected but still couldn't access the device

I only noticed the problem after upgrading to OS X Yosemite, but as I have tried with other computers, I doubt this is the problem.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you.
