Why am I not able to reply to messages on my Gear S?

Messages on Gear S

I have the Gear S (Verizon) and I'm on nested via bluetooth on my note 4. Whenever I receive text messages, I get the notification and able to read it on my Gear S, however, I am unable to reply. My only option is to dismiss it.

If someone texts my Gear S number, I am able to reply. I prefer to be able to reply when messages come through to my note 4.

I hope this isn't too confusing as you guys read this....any suggestions?

Are you using the stock texting app? That is the only way you'll be able to respond.

I was using the verizon+ app that came pre-installed on the phone. I also have the original messages app which was also pre-installed. I will try switching.

So far, it only works with the stock Note 4 message app.

My AT&T unit being used as a cell phone without being paired or connected to another phone lets you respond to text messages from the "Messages" application, but not the right swipe "Notifications" screen. I did read a post here somewhere that there is an AP that will let you reply from the notifications screen. I'll try to find it and link... (Here it is)

No app needed. Just swipe up a little bit and you will find the reply button on the bottom.

You can only respond to notifications on the watch if it is from an phone app that Samsung wrote. That means stock email app or stock message app.

There is no reply button for
Facebook Twitter and what's app but Samsung site clearly says respond to Facebook notifications from watch

I'm using my gear S with Note 4. I have a S4 at home with android 4.4.2. I will move my gear to S4 to check if notifications work.

No app needed. Just swipe up a little bit and you will find the reply button on the bottom.

Thanks! Found that today by acident. Sometimes it's on the top right and sometimes it's on the bottom right. Lol... Those pesky triple dots!

Unless you are using a Samsung wrote facebook app (which I don't think existed), you can't reply to it. Read the description on Samsung's web site, they never mentioned you have reply to facebooks. Read those words carefully.

go to the gear manager on your phone, hit notifacations, and check off all the app you wish to have theit notifacatons on your phone.

In theory this should work. Unfortunately, sometimes the notifications just randomly quick working.

Notification works reliably for me. Make sure you unchecked the box in Gear Manager that says limit notification when phone is in use. It is on by default.

Reply to notification is another story. It seems only work if it is from a Samsung stock application like Messages and Email app on the phone.
