Android Central Question

I have a Galaxy S7, and I have become aware that I am not getting any emergency alerts. I have checked my emergency settings and have all set to "on", but nothing comes through.

In the past month, I have been with others, on Verizon and other carriers, when severe weather alerts were broadcast, and everyone's phone but mine went off.

The latest was two days ago, when my daughter's Pixel was less than 12" from my S7. She got a severe storm/flooding alert, my phone remained silent. I was not using it, it was on and the volume was up.

Verizon seems to have no clue why it's happening and has nothing to offer other than "FEMA sends those messages".

Either there is a secondary setting that isn't obvious or a serious flaw in the build. From the Verizon forums, it seems that most of us had the alerts working, and at some point they just stopped.

I am very aggravated!!

Are you sure they weren't getting Severe weather and flooding alerts from their weather apps? I get emergency alerts (mostly Amber alerts), but the severe wind, rain, hail, flood and even hurricane events I get are all from my weather app (I'm using AccuWeather). Yes, FEMA does send out alerts, but NOAA, "the weather bureau" generates the weather alerts. The NOAA Alerts or CellularOne CMAS app should give you more of what you want. (Or Google noaa alerts - you can sign up for email or text alerts.)
