Why am I stuck in Vehicle Mode after removal from car dock?

Lately my Razor Maxx HD stays in Vehicle mode after I take it out of the car dock. If I turn it landscape, there is a "Home" key but in portrait mode, that button is a Bluetooth button.
It also takes some time (5 minutes or so) to go into Vehicle mode after I insert it into the dock before it switches. Lately I need to reset it in order to get out of Vehicle Mode.

Android version 4.4.2, Build Date: Jul 29

Does anyone know if there is there a setting I can change?
