Why am I unable to save a number to my existing contacts on my Galaxy S6?

I cannot save a number to my existing contacts on my Galaxy s6

In my text message app, I click more > add to contacts > update existing. I select the contact I would like to update and nothing happens, it just pull up the contact. The phone number doesn't show up anywhere and the "Save" button is not available to select.
