Why are all of my text messages getting mixed up (Galaxy S5)?

I have a galaxy s5 and here lately it has started to mix up text messages

what I mean by this is when I text people my text sends normally but then when they reply their response is found before my text. They are just all out of order and it's rather annoying. I have some important messages on my phone so I don't want to delete all my text messages. is there anyway to fix this?

I think there might be an issue with the time stamp. Check your time and date settings to see if everything is in order with your phone (usually better to leave it on AUTO), but I fear the problem will be at the 'back end', as AFAIK, SMS time stamps are actually 'printed' by the carrier. Basically your phone thinks the reply came before because that's what the time stamp says.

You can also try to open your SMS conversation in another app, like Hangouts, and see if the problem persists. If it does, it's definitely a time stamp issue. If it doesn't, it's your messaging app that's acting up. You can always switch back from app to app without losing or modifying messages.

I assume you have to tick Automatic on the Date and Time settings of your phone.
