Android Central Question

I have a Huawei P10 lite and the operating system is Android 7.0 Nougat. I type in French and when I go to write a text message in French, I can see all the accented letters appear on the screen, but the moment I press send, some of the accents disappear (e.g. ê, î, ç). The accent aigu and grave (é and è) don't disappear. I have tried several keyboards with the French language pack installed, including SwiftKey and Gboard, nothing works. I had a Huawei Ascend Mate 2 before this and didn't have a problem. Seems to be an encoding issue, but I don't how to fix it. Thank you in advance!

To send those accents, SMS has to use Unicode encoding, and your SMS app may not do Unicode (it should, it's standard - you're just limited to 70 characters per block of message, instead of 160). It's not the keyboard, it's the SMS app. Try a different SMS app (like GoSMS).

(And make sure the ROM is the French 7.0, not an American or UK 7.0.)
