Why are my apps suddenly all crashing at once?

This is driving me crazy and I don't know what to do anymore. So since yesterday several of my apps have been crashing but it's not just randomly, it's when I do very specific things. There's a game that crashes only when I open the news board. There's a social media app that crashes only when I tap the notification bell and another that crashes only when I try to use the search bar. I have never seen such a bizarre problem before. I have tried updating my phone but I have a Moto G5 and it seems that the 2018 android 8.1 update was the last one. I have tried clearing cache on everything including some system apps, updating apps individually, resetting the phone, clearing storage space, nothing is working. I only haven't tried a factory reset because it would be a huge pain to back everything up and I want that to be last case scenario only. Please help

Welcome to Android Central! Did you also try clearing the cache partition? I think the Moto G5 was the last of their phones where you could do this: https://www.hardreset.info/devices/motorola/motorola-moto-g5-plus/wipe-cache/

I spent the last hour trying to do the wipe cache but my phone is refusing to go into recovery mode for whatever reason. Just says "no command" and every solution on the internet tells me to wipe cache to fix it but I can't do it without being able to reach recovery mode -_-
might be time for that factory reset

At the "No Command" screen, try pressing and holding Power, then press Vol Up. then release both.
