why are my photos blurry after sharing them via whatsapp

I use the whatsapp sharing gallery and the photos are SO blurry. However, when i take the same photo using the original camera and view in the gallery, it is crystal clear. When I "share" this crystal clear photo from gallery to whatsapp, it becomes blurry again. I believe the apps are compressing the photos?

Most likely WhatsApp is reducing the resolution and adding too much compression to the JPG files.

If this is the case, you can use a photo editor to do it your self with much better results.
The step that normally is forgotten is that after the resizing the image needs to be sharpened again.
