Why are my text messages being spliced with old ones?

AC Question

I have an HTC m8, I've had for a year in a half -- it's in good condition, have never had any issues with it until now. It's got the newest version of Lollipop for an OS.

Every time I send a text message it will splice with another one that I sent to that person months ago. When the person receives the text, half way through the thing it'll add parts of different text messages. I'm calling them "Franken-texts". It's happening both ways -- I'll receive texts from other people and then half way it will stop making sense because it will be spliced with a previous text message from a long time ago.

How do I make this stop happening?

Thank you for any help you can give!

Welcome to the forums! Try clearing the cache of the messaging application by going into system settings > applications > messaging. If that doesn't help try clearing the cache partition of the device - let us know how that works.

And if clearing the caches don't work you could also try a third party texting app.

I have been through all of those steps, and still I have the same problem. Any other suggestions? Messages are spliced about twenty percent of the time. And I'm not receiving about 10% of my messages at all. This is getting ridiculous.

I have the exact same problem. Only one person has reported the issue to me, but I am sure there are others that think I just can't type correctly. Ever since buying this samsung galaxy s6 I've had nothing but messaging problems. Messages taking forever to send, never sending at all, telling me they didn't send but they actually did, and now this combining new and old texts, and missing texts. I think the only solution is a different phone.
