Why are my videos disappearing without me deleting them?

I have a Huawei p20. I have noticed that every few months when I go to look for old videos in my video gallery, my videos have disappeared. My phone seems to only save videos up to the last few months. I have lost all my videos of my son when he was first born, even though I didn't delete any of them myself. How is this possible? Where have all my videos gone?

They should show in the gallery if they are on your device but look in the folder where they would normally be saved just in case their is something wrong with the gallery. You should be backing them up online or to a PC just in case you have problems like this.

Welcome to Android Central! Does the phone have any kind of "phone cleaner" app or feature? If so, make sure it isn't set to automatically delete old or large files.

And as Mike Dee alluded to, you should not rely on your phone as the sole storage for important data. Make sure you back things up on a regular basis. It pains me every time I see a post about someone losing priceless photos or videos of a loved one just because a phone failed.:'(
