Why are some pics being saved with a created date of December 31, 1969 on my LG Stylos 4

My LG Stylos 4 has an app called Quick memo which I use to draw pics and when I send them to my text messages so I can save them in my Gallery they get a date stamp of December 31, 1969. I've had this phone for a year now, and this is a recent development.

Well it's an app that comes with the LG stylo, hence the reason I bought the phone. But I noticed it also happens on some of my emails, mainly spam, connected to my gmail account.

Why do you have to send the memos as a text message in order to save them? Are you unable to save them directly using the memo app? Or is it unable to convert to a jpg?
