Why are the navbar buttons shifting in different directions automatically?

I updated my Moto Z play to Oreo around 2-3 days ago and apart from the fact that filters don't filter out the notification panel problem I'm having another problem which is the buttons on my nav bar keep shifting slightly in different directions. All the three buttons (back,home and menu) seem to be moving automatically either up, down or to the right. The movement is random and keeps changing. I found out when i noticed the grey highlight that comes around the button when its pressed gets cut depending on which direction the buttons have moved.
