Android Central Question

I showered with it like always but no water that I know of got in it and I've tried resetting it multiple times but on my phone screen there are thin black lines that are I think vertical. .. they go side to side and when I swipe up to my other apps they go up and down... how do I fix this... I'm really worried and I don't have money for a new phone

Welcome to Android Central! The phone has most likely sustained water damage. Keep in mind that IP ratings are never a guarantee that a phone is waterproof -- it's only water resistance, with testing done under very strict conditions. Showering means higher pressure water, which can easily exceed the water pressure in those tests. In addition, any breaks in the integrity (which can include tiny cracks you might not have been aware of) can eliminate that water resistance.

The bottom line is that you should never actively expose your phone to water if you don't have to. Warranties actually don't cover water damage, if you read their fine print. Try the steps here: [GUIDE] Oh, no! My Phone got Wet! - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com. But I'm sorry to say that you'll probably either have to bring the phone to a repair shop or get a new phone.

Word of advice -- if/when you get a new phone, make sure you treat it like it's really valuable to you (since you say you don't have money for a new phone). To this day, I still treat my phone like it's a Ming dynasty vase.
