Question Why aren't I receiving bank login SMS codes?

I'm using my Android 10 cellphone over Wi-Fi, but I also have prepaid minutes.

I tried logging into my bank account on my Android 10 tablet. I received an email saying an SMS code is being sent to my cellphone, but it never came. I tried restarting my cellphone, to no avail.

Please note that I received the SMS codes to successfully login last week. And even 30 minutes ago I properly received the SMS code.

But my subsequent attempts shortly thereafter (i.e., 10 and 20 minutes ago) weren't successful -- i.e., no SMS code was received.... even though the bank's emails to me said a SMS code is being sent to my cellphone.

Please advise. Thank you.

Are you getting other OTP codes via SMS from other services?
I've only been using my new chip in my cellphone for 10 days. I did receive a SMS text 10 days ago with a OTP from a different business.

My old chip expired before I got around to using it.

I probably received 15 OTC last week from the bank in my original post above. Everything went very smoothly.

B. Diddy -- mystery solved. I tried making a phone call and the time limit for the minutes that came with my chip has expired.

I'm still traveling in South America. I was told the expiration of my unlimited minutes was tomorrow. Apparently it was this afternoon.

Thus I received an SMS code right before the cut off, but none after. And apparently, Wi-Fi isn't sufficient to receive SMS messages.

False alarm, sorry. Thank you anyway.

Is this pay as you go setup? You can't get your email to give a verification code instead of SMS, I know my banks do that.
My other banks send codes to my email. This particular bank doesn't. I asked if they could -- they said no. But I do need this particular bank regardless.

Yes, it's pay as you go. Alternatively I could get a "plan", but Google Voice (and WhatsApp in the future) should fulfill my needs.

Ahh ..now I remember you had this issue with Whatsapp.
Yes that was me. I thought about you when I wrote above that
"apparently, Wi-Fi isn't sufficient to receive SMS messages."... as you thought the WhatsApp problem was not having a balance on my phone, despite using Wi-Fi. Yes, that was a problem....

....but the overriding problem I was having with WhatsApp is that Claro, the main phone service provider in most of South America, takes back the phone number if you don't add minutes or get a plan after a certain amount of time, which I apparently exceeded.

I was using my phone for Skype and then Google Voice, but unknown to me, my chip phone number was no longer active. Thus I couldn't sign up for WhatsApp.

I'm confident that once I add minutes/time to my new chip phone number I'll be able to sign up for WhatsApp.
