MMS not coming in or downloading....

Afternoon all,

I've been having issues with MMS they just aren't coming through. Some come through but most of them aren't. When they do come through it says "New MMS message to download: size is 1kb, expires on date/time". When i try to download it ALWAYS fails and doesn't download. This has been an issue since I've updated to Lollipop. I'm currently on 5.0.1 OTA stocked not rooted. All of this is on hangouts on its latest version as well, if anyone has suggestions or fixes i'd appreciate it.

Re: MMS not coming in or downloading....

Try shutting off WiFi and see of it helps. maybe the device is trying to recieve the MMS message via WiFi and not the mobile data and that obviously won't work if it is being sent to you mobile #. Sometimes it seems like the n5 gets "stuck" on WiFi and doesn't switch over to mobile data when it should. (At least mine does this)

Re: MMS not coming in or downloading....

Thanks for the suggestion but I have all the WiFi advanced settings off completely. Tried downloading on WiFi and no luck.

MMS requires data connection.. make sure your mobile data is enabled and it should work.. MMS does not work over WiFi only, needs data turned on..

That's what I was saying. Sometimes the device will try to use the WiFi connection to transmit the MMS instead of the data connection. If you turn off the WiFi but leave the data on it will fix that, if that is indeed the problem.

I'm having the same problem. Nexus 5 stock lollipop 5.0.1 on straight talk (at&t). I've had the phone for a year and it's worked fine almost all of that time, the problem just started recently. noticed it yesterday for the first time but it could have been going on as much as 2 weeks, this is the last receipt of mms I've had (i don't get many).

I double checked the apn settings to make sure they are the most up to date formy provider; I've rebooted my phone and tried Wi-Fi disabled; I've tried fiddling with the apn settings by changing from ipv4 to ipv6 to ipv4/ipv6. None of this helps.

One thing i can say is that i did receive the 5.0.1 ota between when i last received a mms successfully and when i noticed the problem, so that could be the cause, but as i note above i don't receive mms often enough to make a definitive link.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem too?

Try the suggestions provided in this post: Android 5.0 Lollipop bugs got you d...ble-fix-them[\url] Let us know how it goes.

Re: MMS not coming in or downloading....

AT&T has a 600 KB file size limit on MMS. It's possible that may be the problem? Some are too big?

Been searching for quite some while on this one and found something that immediately worked. Go to Settings > mobile networks > access points names > carrier (being used) > APN Type > select default, mms, supl, and wap and hit OK.

What network are you on? I don't seem to have the setting as you (I'm on Sprint). Thanks for the post/suggestion. Perhaps you can assist me in finding these settings? Thanks.

I recently had the same problem, did a wipe cache and restart, seems OK now.

Mind 70% blown, but I still do not understand. How is my mobile phone number NOT commected to Wi-Fi as it is connected to mobile data. Connected so that I can load these MMS messages over mobile data but not wi-fi
