Why aren't my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Verizon Contacts responding?

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Verizon "Contacts" not responding

About a week ago I started getting the pop up that "Contacts is not responding" and have to force close. I cleared the cache and restarted phone, hoping that would fix it, nope. I want to avoid having to wipe all my contacts ( I know it's stupid but I don't want to have to link all my contacts again since it doesn't seem to save the link info). Is anyone else having this issue? Should I just switch the messaging app?

We've been getting a lot of the same complaint the last week on here, so far nothing has worked. While its annoying and the contacts itself hasnt been affected, we are still waiting for a solution!
