Why aren't the reviews I posted on Google maps showing publicly?

I posted 2 Google reviews on Google maps for business, but they are only visible to me, in a separate section right above all the other reviews.

Google even sent me an email several days later thanking me for my 2 reviews.

My reviews consisted solely of letters, comas, and periods. And I didn't include any links. Why is this happening? Thank you.

Did the email say that the reviews were being checked before being published? How long ago was this? Reviews don't always go public immediately.

It was 15 days ago. I even deleted one of them and immediately posted it again 3 days ago. Same result.

The email came from Google maps 9 days ago. I copied and pasted it below...

Your new reviews are a great addition to Google. Contributions like these help others make decisions about the things worth doing and places worth seeing

I used my Android 10 Lenovo M8 to access Google maps and post the reviews. These are the only 2 reviews I've posted using this tablet.

How do you know they aren't showing publicly? have you checked while not logged in?

I'm facing the same issue. I posted a review on maps 3 weeks ago. I received the email from Google thanking me for the review 4 days later. I have 5 older reviews for other companies that posted & are viewable for all to see.

This review is for my realtor & really wanted this positive review to post.

I'm at a loss...
:(

Fuzzy... when I sort by "latest" reviews, mine isn't there... Rather it's in a separate section right above the other reviews. Plus the office I reviewed cannot see it...Also, Berry just posted above the same issue.

Mustang... How can BerryBubbles (see above comment) and I resolve this issue?

Good question I haven't had a opportunity to test this yet I just leave like 5 stars and never comment

Hi Dj.

I deleted all my exclamation marks, but it didn't help.

Are your reviews very long? I read if they are too big, they might not get posted. I was thinking of reducing my review.

Hi BerryBubbles... One of my 2 reviews was very short and it still cannot be seen publicly just like my longer review. I watched some YouTube videos on this but none of them provided solutions that worked for me.

Sounds like it's going through the verification process

Can either of you tell us the name of a business you reviewed and your Google username so that we can look for your review? Feel free to send it as a PM if you don't want to make it public on this forum.

Good news. 25 minutes ago I received an email from one of the 2 offices I reviewed saying: "I wanted to let you know that your 2nd review is on our Google Reviews. Thanks again for the kind words!". It was the longer of my 2 reviews. Probably about 10 sentences.

I don't know yet if the shorter review is visible publicly.

Surprisingly (to me anyway), when I sort by "newest" review my review still doesn't show up. It's still in a separate section right above the other reviews.

That's encouraging! Hopefully, your other review will post soon.
:)

In a PM with BerryBubbles, I was thinking that delays might be related to either the company not having many reviews to begin with, or to the reviewer not having done many reviews. This might trigger a flag in Google to take more time checking the review, since it might increase the chance it's a "fake" review intended to pad the company's reviews. Is either of those the case for you?

B.Diddy...maybe you're correct. One of the YouTube videos on this issue said reviewers with very few reviews raises a red flag which may prevent the review being posted. This seems pretty lame as we all need to start somewhere. And Google knows me very well as I've had my Google maps-associated Gmail account for over 10 years.

To answer your question, the 2 businesses I reviewed have several hundred reviews -- but these were my first 2 reviews on my current 2 1/2 year old tablet. I posted 3 reviews on my prior Android tablet which I had for 4 years.

I know, it does sound counterintuitive. I would suggest submitting several more reviews for various other businesses and give it a little more time.

That's what I did this morning. Just to check my account, I reviewed a restaurant where I had lunch yesterday & it posted immediately. The restaurant had over 1,800 reviews, however.

I totally agree with your analysis that my problem may lie with the fact that my review was the first received by that individual, coupled with the fact that my total review count is small.

My realtor has gotten involved to attack the issue from his side.

Again, thanks for your help!
