Why can I only view individual e-mails for about 10 seconds?

On my Galaxy Tab 2- 4.2.2 I can send & receive e-mails from my ISP o.k. but when I view an individual mail, after 10 seconds the screen reverts to the Samsung home screen. Any help would be appreciated

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using the stock Email app? Are you viewing the emails from within the Email app, or is it just the notification?

If you're using the Email app, are you saying that after 10 seconds, it just dumps you to the homescreen? Any error messages, like "Unfortunately Email has stopped"?
