Why cannot I set default app?

[Android Central Question]

When I select an audio track it immediately starts playing with "Audio Player" with an option to 'open with' BUT it dopes not allow me to select for always, only for that once. It cannot set a default. How can I select a default audio player permanently or disable the default one? Any help appreciated
