Android Central Question

I can't seem to find a solution on why I can't access files on OTG's and USB type C on my Galaxy Note 8. The device I'm connecting to my phone works with other devices including computers but when I connect it to my phone, there isnt even a notification that it was connected. I tried turning on the USB debugging in the developers option but still not working. My charging works well, so i guess its not the charging pin? PLEASE HELP!!!!

OTG doesn't depend on the charging pins (there are 12 paired pins in a Type C connector - only 2 of which are charging pins - so any of the other 10 pin pairs could be bad and the phone would still charge).

Are you sure you're using a "Type C OTG" adapter? With mictoUSB, only one connection had to be made - ID to ground on the phone end. With Type C, it's a bit more complicated - the Type C side also has to have an OTG setup - a 5k resistor from CC1 to ground. See https://ashleyslab.co/usb-type-c-mod-time/ for details.
