Why cant I clear my cache?

I power my phone off, power back on while holding home, exclamation point in triangle shows up, I press search and it does nothing. Am I doing this wrong? If I am can some one please help me out. Thanks.

Why don't you try 1-Click Clear. It's free and easier than rebooting.

The button sequence is different in Gingerbread.

Power off, hold the home button then press and hold the power button until the android guy with the triangle shows up. Hit both volume buttons simultaneously and the reset choices will appear. Then use a volume button to scroll down to wipe cache, choose it with the power button, scroll down to yes, and choose it.

Thanks. I was hoping this would help some of my issues from the GB update but I might just have to factory reset it.
