Why can't I connect my HTC to my Mac after an update?

I've recently updated my HTC M7 to the new update, which is 5.02 (Android Version), and 6.0 (HTC Sense Version). I have a Mac, and I've been using the HTC Sync Manager ever since I first got my phone (two years ago). It's been working perfectly fine, transferring music here and there. But after the update, it's just not working anymore? It says it's loading the phone, but then it says to reconnect the device and it's the same process again. I don't know what is wrong, can some explain what is happening or help me resolve this problem? Thank you!
