Mazda3 Suddenly cannot connect or pair to Samsung s4

I've had a used Mazda3 2013 for about 3 weeks. I had no issue pairing and using my Samsung Galaxy S4 until Sunday, when suddenly I couldn't connect anymore. I tried forgetting the Mazda on my phone, forgetting the phone on my car, turning bluetooth off and on, rebooting the phone, upgrading to Lollipop and nothing worked. I can't even pair the phone anymore, the car just says "Err". The car still works with my husband's Blackberry and my phone was able to pair with a Jambra handsfree device this morning, so I don't even know what device is having the problem. I don't think there was any update on the device between when it worked and stopped working. Any suggestions? We're at a loss.

Call Mazda Bluetooth Support at: (800) 430-0153 ....sometimes (esp w/used cars) they need to do some troubleshooting.

Sometimes when your phone has been paired to multiple things pairing the phone gets confused as to what to pair too. Make sure any other devices you paired to are turned off, then try to pair to your car again. I've had this happen on numerous occasions.

Thanks for your help. I called Mazda's Handfree helpline and apparently you can sometimes circumvent this error by trying to pair with voice commands. This doesn't explain why the error happened to begin with, but it seems to be working now.

I work at a Mazda dealership and we connect the bluetooth after we sell the car. Their bluetooth dept is usually helpful so I'm glad it worked out. With the preowned Mazda's it can get tricky especially if the previous owner used the bluetooth.
