why can't I copy from Images to some other folder

I have a Nexsus 7 , Android version 6.0.1. I'm using Es File Explorer to copy/move data. When I go to say Downloads, I can select a file(s) and paste lights up. If I start from Images flder I only get "copy to" , when I choose that it only shows me other Folders within Images. I would like to copy the Images to a flash drive. BTW Yes i can copy/past , create folders and files on the flash drive with EFE.
Any idea what's going on here ?

Welcome to Android Central! Is Images an actual directory, or is it a category that ES File Explorer creates (i.e., it aggregates all images on the device and shows them in the Images category)?

Make sure you navigate to the actual directory those photos are, and then see if it lets you copy them to the flash drive from there.
