why can't I disable blue LED for notifications on samsung galaxy s4

since installing latest upgrade on sprint samsung galaxy s4, not checking box for blue LED for notifications doesn't seem to have any effect. Tried checking box and get same result. Wasn't like this before upgrade.

Welcome to Android Central!

You can try booting in to recovery and clearing the cache partition to see if that clears it.

To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:

Turn the device off.
Press and hold the following three buttons at the same time:
Volume Up key
Home key
Power key.
When the phone vibrates, release the Power and Home key but continue to press and hold the Volume Up key.
Continue holding the Volume Up key until the Android System Recovery menu displays and then release. This step may take several seconds.
Press the Volume Down key to highlight 'wipe cache partition.'
Press the Power key to select.
When the wipe cache partition is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
Press the Power key to restart the device.

I tried what you suggested twice to be sure I didn't mess up the first time, but had no success. Phone behaves the same way. Has to be something in the update programming that caused this. I'm sure that it is not only me who is having this problem. Thank you for trying to help me.

Some apps, like WhatsApp, have built-in notifications settings, so try to get what is the app thats pushes the notification.
