Why can't I empty the trash on my Droid Turbo?

I can't empty the trash on my Droid Turbo

It gives me the message There was a problem syncing this folder please try again later. This has gone on for days. I tried turning sync off and on a few times and restarted my phone. No go. Any ideas?

Last time I had an email issue not syncing, I removed the account and reset it up. It's been working flawless since. Just a thought.
