Why can't I fast forward/rewind via bluetooth controls?

I'm having an issue fast forwarding and rewinding tracks when connected to my car stereo via bluetooth. I previously had a galaxy s7 edge and worked fine using Poweramp as my primary media player. I upgraded to the galaxy s10+ and have almost completley lost the ability to fast forward and rewind. I have enabled the bluetooth control in settings, cleared the cache on bluetooth and Poweramp, reset network and all settings and still nothing. If I reboot my phone, it works one or two times for the first song or two, but then stops working again.
