why can't I figure out the task switcher

On the Tab, it is obvious how to switch between open apps. How do you do it on the Note 2014?

Long press the Home button and choose a different app from the list ? There are also gesture based switching apps in the Play store that let you toggle between apps.

The long press displays the most recent app. You may want to use the icon widget for running apps. I'm also using Switchr, check it out too.
