Android Central Question

HELP!!!! I have a new phone and was attempting to send a SMS text to Target (827438) to access a coupon, and a popup message said something about "this SMS may incur data cost from your provider, do you want to proceed?" and I accidentally hit "block". There was also a boxed checked that said "remember this setting?" so now I am unable to send messages to these types of businesses. There was a flash of text afterward showing how to turn this setting off later, but it disappeared before I could see the path. Anyone able to enighten me on this?

Welcome to the forums. You need to change the permission for the Premium SMS. What device do you have? The right steps will depend on your model, but you can try using the search option in the settings and type 'premium'.

Javier - I have an LG V20 on AT&T. Nothing comes up for "premium" or "SMS" when searching in settings.

Thanks for registering! I've never used the V20, so I'm not sure where this setting could be. Maybe in your carrier-related app/settings? In most phones running Nougat you can change this permission in settings - apps - cog icon - special access - Premium SMS access. Worth a try.

I'll move your thread to the V20 forum where it'll be easier getting help from other owners.

15 minutes with an AT&T tech remotely prowling around inside my phone and we found the Premium settings, hidden deep! In case anyone else has this issue, the path is Settings > General > Apps > Messaging > Message App > Special access > Premium SMS access > Messaging > (ask, always allow, never allow). Thanks guys!

Glad you managed to fix it and thanks for the follow up! It'll be very helpful for other users with a similar issue. See you around the forums.
