Why can't I get a signal on my Note 3?

Need Help with Note 3

I cant get a signal on my phone. Theres a red × next to the signal bars and I need help restoring this device to normal. I only get wifi which is annoying because Im not always around a network. Somebody anybody please help

Maybe try a new sim card?
Has it always been that way or something thats happened recently?
Its not in airplane mode?

Is the SIM card your using active and does it work in another device?
Is this a new Note 3? did you buy it used? If its used is it possible that its been reported lost / stolen or perhaps the person didnt pay it off and the IMEI has been black listed?
I have a note 3 and when i take my sim out it still gets signal, so the red X makes me wonder if its been black listed.
It might be a good idea to contact your carrier and run the IMEI by them to verify its good or bad.
