why can't I get a video sent from an iPhone to a Android phone on Gmail

my girlfriend sent me a video from her iPhone when I try to play it on my phone it's just a blank screen then it says PDF file can't stream

Ask her to make sure that the file she sends you is an .mp4 or .avi or some other video format. A .pdf file can't stream or play, it can only be opened (and Android doesn't come with an app that can open .pdf files - you have to install one).

as mentioned above, pdf files are documents, not for video streaming.
