why can't I get a voicemail notification?

I never know when I have a voicemail.

Did you ever get an answer to this? This just started happening to me recently on my Pixel1. Restart didn't help. System update didn't help. No notification about a new voicemail, or a missed call.

Open the Phone app, tap Menu>Settings>Call Settings>Voicemail, and make sure your voicemail number is correct for your carrier.
