Why can't I get off the no command screen?

[Android Central Question]

I have a Samsung Galaxy Core which is 4 years old. Over the past couple months it has been losing battery life like there's no tomorrow (can't leave the house if battery life is under 80% 50% phone dies within next 15 minutes. I've had to constantly take out the battery because the phone would freeze completely. Now since yesterday no matter what solutions I've googled or followed it has been stuck on either the no command screen with the options, the failed to install updates or just the plain no command. I also cannot afford a new phone at the moment and must commute to school, thus I am left with no form of communication. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
