Why can't I get to the keyboard to make corrections when composing voice text?

can't get to keyboard to make corrections when composing voice text

Galaxy S5, verizon, version 4.4. To compose text messages, I am using the stock software which came with the phone. When composing a voice text, I can't get back to the keyboard to make corrections by tapping the text. This is a new development. I have to get out of messaging, reopen it, and tap on the draft, then it opens and I can get to the keyboard. It's turning into a PITA.
