Why can't I hold drag apps

I have a samsung s7 edge. I was wondering if anyone could help I can not hold down apps and move them to my home screen.

What happens when you try? (I assume that you're in the app drawer when you're trying - that's where you do it from.)

I have that struggle too , sometimes. Instead a shortcut goes to your front home screen. Sometimes, you have to click edit and the open the folder that you want to put the app in and click add and then find the app and hit add on that app.

When I go to my app drawer to create an app shortcut, I make sure I long press it so I can drag and drop it to my home screen.
