Why can't I move photos from album to album in Gallery app?

I store my photos in the Gallery app in my G4. Most are kept in the SD card. I have always been able to move them from one album to another using the drop-down menu. Recently, this function doesn't work, except from the Camera album.

Welcome to Android Central! Is this only for photos stored on the SD card, or also for photos on Internal Storage?

FYI, be aware that SD cards are reliable enough to be the sole storage for important data. If any of these photos are important to you, make sure they're backed up or synced somewhere safe, like Google Photos or your computer's hard drive.

I have photos, (in various albums,) both in internal storage and on the SD card. The only album that I can move photos OUT of is the Camera album, which is on the card. When I try to move a photo out of any other album, it says "moved" at the bottom, but nothing else happens.

And these other albums are on Internal Storage, the SD card, or both?

What if you use a file manager app to move the photo files around instead?

So you perform this move from files app and it won't allow you ?
Seems that you having duplicates all over the place , from internal storage ,sd card , gallery
