Why can't I play video that I already have on my Samsung note 8

I have videos of my son that I already have on my phone but they are not letting me play them

Welcome to Android Central! Are they videos taken by the phone's camera? Are they saved to Internal Storage or the SD card?

Are you using the Samsung video app? Try downloading a third party app like VLC or MX player.

Depends on the video format maybe and the player doesnt support (mov, mp4, etc.,) or sometimes the movie file needs to be "fixed" because the original file doesn't conform to exact standard.

I haven't played a movie file on my Note 8 yet so I don't know what format it supports out of box. Can try a 3rd party player. I use to use MX Player on my LG G2/G3 some time ago.
