Why can't I read my email anymore?

can't read email anymore

I have a Samsung s5.
About 15 days ago, I stopped receiving email , on both my Hotmail and Gmail accounts.
I am able to connect to the internet ok.
I tried removing my Hotmail account, and re-adding the account, but no luck.
Any suggestions?

From the pull down menu, make sure the Sync option is green.

OK - I got it working. had to click on sync in the notification screen.

Now I see my incoming emails.
